Soraya Smith - Cook
I knew I loved food since I was in Primary School. After cooking class I would go home and redo what I learnt. Sometimes I would get in trouble for using the last bottle of milk or putting salt in the baking instead of sugar.
I left College to work as a kitchen hand in a restaurant. There I learnt from the head chefs, cooks and dessert chefs and I soon worked my way up to become the Sous chef.
Years after, I moved to Sydney, working alongside other chefs and learning different cuisines Australia has to offer.
I returned to New Zealand as a short order cook in a busy Club bistro for 9 years. Realising its time for another challenge I left to become a Cafe Owner which was exhausting with two sporty teens but it was the best experience I ever had. A few years later I gave it up to have my 3rd daughter and enjoy "Early Motherhood."
I feel most welcomed at New Shoots Bayfair. All the staff are a great bunch. To meet all your amazing children and see their smiley faces every day is just awesome and I am hoping I can introduce them to new flavours full of nutrition they will enjoy.
