Bridgit has been teaching for over 25 years and has experienced a number of roles in centres throughout Hamilton, however she says she has never felt more at home than she does at our Hamilton centre. She has been with New Shoots since 2013, just after it opened.

She is passionate about creating inviting learning environments for children to experience both inside and outside the centre.

“I love being in nature and gardening, and believe that children have valuable learning experiences while being surrounded by beautiful natural environments.  I use natural materials in children’s play too, there’s nothing more textural than a piece of bark, a polished stone or the smell of lavender.
I believe that children learn through real life experience like carpentry, sewing (by hand or with a machine), gardening using tools, baking and cooking, knitting and other crafts.

Outside of work, my interests revolve around my son, who I take on bush walks and cycle with along the beautiful Waikato River. I also love to take photos and scrapbook them along with gardening and reading. I am a mother of one and always on the go!! I have a great get-up-and-go attitude, and love getting stuck into whatever each new day brings at New Shoots.”
