Found on the main road into town, our eye-catching early childhood centre is easy to spot and access for many Bay of Islands families. Our architecturally designed centre reflects the local culture and blurs the boundaries between indoors and out.
Taking advantage of the winterless North’s climate, our spacious outdoor area gives children endless hours to discover nature, challenge themselves through outdoor play, and learn to love our planet. Out here, tamariki can run, climb, splash, and play to their heart’s content.
In the middle of our purpose-built childcare centre you’ll find a big, beautiful pohutakawa, with all the pods facing this striking tree. Each room features an abundance of sunlight, excellent ventilation and a home-like aesthetic.
Our sustainable resources and countless opportunities for open-ended exploration inspire creativity, curiosity and self-discovery.
Supported by warm and responsive kaiako, this is a safe and nurturing space where your children will develop from curious infants, to confident toddlers, to independent preschoolers. Watch your children grow, learn and thrive right before your eyes.
This beautiful, bespoke childcare centre is about more than early childhood education. We also offer a dedicated space for our local community where people can gather right here in the heart of town, strengthening support networks.

New Shoots operates as a full day service and do not offer short days or sessions;
Our fees include high quality teacher ratios above Ministry of Education Standards;
Minimum enrolment is two days per week; A $50 enrolment fee will be due upon enrolment to confirm your place;
Two weeks notice is required when terminating enrolment; 10% discount is applicable to your eldest child’s fees if you have two or more children attending New Shoots full time;
Nappies and food are provided; and Formula is not provided – this must be brought in from home if required.
