Helen began her journey in early childhood in 2006 as a reliever and a centre cook. She began her studies with University of Canterbury in 2010 and graduated with a Diploma of Teaching and Learning (ECE) in 2012. She started with New Shoots in September 2018, in the Kea room.

“I have passion for Māori culture and implement this daily though te reo and tikanga practices. I love to learn alongside children and believe they have so much to teach us.

Children are unique individuals and their culture, beliefs and values are respected and nurtured through my teaching practice.

I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks, cooking and reading.

I am married with 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. We moved to rural Te Puke in December 2008 where we enjoy the quiet lifestyle the country offers us.”
