New Shoots Sunnynook Childcare Centre

Relationships  are  the  foundation  of  our  practice. Our  outdoor  area  is  a  communal  area  –this provides  opportunity  for  siblings  /  cousins  and  children  of different  ages  to  build  and  maintain relationships  and  share  learning  opportunities.  Whaanau  support  teachers  are  instrumental  in relationship  building both  for  the  child  and  family.    

We  have  a  strong  commitment  to  bi-cultural  practice. 

Environment  is  the  third  teacher.  We  provide  an  engaging  environment  which  engages  the  child  in learning  opportunities.  

We  value  the  art  of  play  –  understanding  that  children  explore  their  world,  develop  and consolidate knowledge  /  working  theories  and  practice mastering  dispositions  for  life  (problem  solving, perseverance,  resilience,  social  and  emotional  resilience)  through  play.  These  dispositions  lead  to successful  outcomes  in  any  walk  of  life.
