Angela Foley has worked in childcare for 36 years, an impressive commitment recognised in 2015 when she received a British Empire Medal from HRH Queen Elizabeth for services to children.

“Before my job as centre director at New Shoots, I worked as general manager of a 200-place centre at the University of Leeds catering for children from zero to five, and up to 11 years old in holiday play schemes. I directed a team of 60 teachers, support and ancillary staff and I loved my job for 17 years.

Under her guidance the centre achieved the highest recommendation of 'Outstanding' with the UK regulatory body 'Ofsted' and won a number of awards for quality of care, education and for the centre’s design features.

“So many of my fundamental beliefs about preschool care and education line up perfectly with the way New Shoots works for parents and their children. Forward thinking, leading with principles and opportunities I agree with. I find it incredible to discover how things can be so similar across the other side of the world.”
Angela has a husband, a daughter and three grandchildren aged between 10-14 and a son aged 20, currently studying at the University of Surrey.

“I’m looking forward to spending time here in New Zealand, meeting and working with people who are passionate about ensuring children in New Shoots Children's Centres have the greatest opportunity to learn, grow, be inspired and supported in their learning journey.”
