Jessica Rawlinson - Teacher

After the birth of her youngest son, Jessica developed an interest in attachment and natural parenting, which led her to complete a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE).

“Before I worked in education, I gained a degree in design and visual arts. I’m now a qualified and fully registered teacher, and have been in ECE for the past four years. Furthering my knowledge of how children’s development is influenced by their social communities is very much a passion of mine and I’m currently enrolled in Post Graduate study through Massey University.

I have a great interest in nature and play-based learning and believe that children thrive when given the opportunity to explore and develop their thinking processes within a natural and collaborative environment. My love for nature is further reflected in my home life, where I live in rural West Auckland with my husband and two sons.

It is a gift to be part of the New Shoots Team and to share in the learning journey of our beautiful tamariki and their whānau.”
