Valerie Fletcher - Centre Director
Valerie has been actively involved in the care and education of children for the past 20 years starting as an after-school care and school holiday programs co-ordinator for children aged between 5 and 13. This was a role that she held for several years and enjoyed immensely.
She was then offered an unqualified position as an ECE teacher and soon realised that this was her chosen career. “I loved everything about the role and all the rewards that came with it, such as seeing children grow and develop to their full potential, working alongside passionate and dedicated teachers, and building positive partnerships with parents/whanau.” She enrolled with New Zealand Tertiary College and gained her degree in 2009.
“Over the course of my career I have had the privilege of working alongside many inspirational teachers and managers who inspired me to be the best that I can be and introduced me to new ways of enriching the lives of children. For me there is no other profession that is more rewarding than being a teacher and now centre director of New Shoots Westgate.”
“I have been married to Tony for 30 years and we have three children ages 31, 29, 27, and are also blessed to have four grandsons and one granddaughter.”
