CECILIA SUKMADJAJA - TEACHER

Cecilia is of Chinese-Indonesian descent and considers herself a Kiwi, having spent almost all her life here in NZ. She saw her potential in Early Childhood Education after teaching Sunday School, then Primary School teaching aide and out of school care.

"I strongly believe children thrive in positive, reciprocal connections with whanau and kaiako which enables fulfilment in all aspects of their wellbeing.

I am in awe with every child's unique background and perspectives. Specifically, how it allows them to be genuinely engaged with the natural environment through play differently. Seeing that effort when invited to create theories about their surroundings with them, is dear to me.

I aim to highlight children's many interests and capabilities in order to encourage a sense of agency for children to grow in their own learning and development.

In my free time, I enjoy psychology, food, art and travel.

I anticipate studying towards a Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching in the year to come.

I am grateful to be part of a wonderful team, that is New Shoots Whenuapai. I hope to continue facilitating your child's learning encounters and vice versa, in collaboration with you."
