Conveniently located in the heart of Matamata, New Shoots caters to the rural and farming families who make up this close-knit community. Generous in size and beautifully modern, your tamariki will feel at home in our bespoke early childhood centre.
Our architect was inspired to design a stunning space with a distinct Waikato feel. The building’s striking gabled roof invites families into our spacious rooms which unfold onto gorgeous gardens beyond.
Designed for all-weather play with decks and sheltered spaces, a generous playground and an abundance of natural materials, we view our outdoor space as a little village. Children can move at their own pace, siblings can interact, and infants, toddlers and preschoolers can learn from one another.
Local themes of hunting and farming run deep in our centre and there are endless opportunities to learn through genuine play and self-discovery. We encourage exploration – it’s the foundation needed to develop problem solving and perseverance, confidence and resilience.
Here, nurturing and teaching are one and the same and relationships are at the core of everything we do. Many of our teachers grew up in Matamata and we foster connections to our local community through rest home visits, parents’ nights, and our Christmas parade float.

New Shoots operates as a full day service and do not offer short days or sessions;
Our fees include high quality teacher ratios above Ministry of Education Standards;
Minimum enrolment is two days per week; A $50 enrolment fee will be due upon enrolment to confirm your place;
Two weeks notice is required when terminating enrolment; 10% discount is applicable to your eldest child’s fees if you have two or more children attending New Shoots full time;
Nappies and food are provided; and Formula is not provided – this must be brought in from home if required.
