New Shoots early childhood centre is a beautiful, boutique home away from home nestled conveniently between Pakuranga, Botany and Highland Park. From the scent of home cooking to the sound of giggling children, our purpose-built centre delights the senses the moment you walk through the door.
New Shoots Pakuranga is proudly part of Enviroschools – an environment action-based programme with a kaupapa of empowering tamariki to create a healthy, peaceful and sustainable planet through learning and collective action.
Our community garden encourages hands-on discovery in nature, Māori perspectives, and respect for the diversity of people and culture. Our large outdoor play area gives children plenty of freedom to take the lead and explore in their own unique way.
There are logs to climb and pathways to bike along, but, hands down, our three-tiered sandpit is the favourite! In the great outdoors, toddlers and preschoolers blossom and learn from one another as they connect with Papatūānuku.
Inside, our passionate kaiako believe in the power of play and tailor each room to the needs of our growing tamariki. With infants, we are focused on nurturing relationships as they quite literally find their feet. Older children can join Kelly Sports – fun, weekly group lessons that target gross motor skills. And preschoolers can opt into Forest Kindy, an outdoor exploration programme that transforms children into confident, resilient and independent young people.
Our diverse community is reflected in events we host throughout the year, from Matariki to Chinese New Year to Grandparents’ Day. These special community events bring us together through connection, food and shared cultural experiences.

Every day is treated as a new opportunity to connect, to thrive and to build on the immense curiosity that will create a life-long love of learning.
New Shoots operates as a full day service and do not offer short days or sessions;
Our fees include high quality teacher ratios above Ministry of Education Standards;
Minimum enrolment is two days per week; A $50 enrolment fee will be due upon enrolment to confirm your place;
Two weeks notice is required when terminating enrolment; 10% discount is applicable to your eldest child’s fees if you have two or more children attending New Shoots full time;
Nappies and food are provided; and Formula is not provided – this must be brought in from home if required.
